devon antiques fairs
It is early morning on a good summer day in the spring of our city in our weekly market is underway. Canopy proudly displaying positions their products meet the clothing selling in the market place, dishes, gardening equipment, wicker baskets, fruits, vegetables and flowers from from local farms, Devon honey, handicrafts, farm butter and cheese.
Customers include farmers and their wives were wearing jeans and boots heavy, often with a border collie in tow, the office workers in suits and tourists from everywhere.
Although we live in an era of great stores, chain stores, and through hyperstores takeaway, our market has survived against all odds. Positions are always exploited by traders, many of which produce the food they are sold, opportunity not to multinational corporations, many of which are in fact a homestead, transmitted from generation to generation, yet there are those who are not afraid to work this mentality, it is difficult to succeed.
During the summer months when business visitors, and so are many, our market has to look like an old time just because musicians jugglers and other street artists attracted. Some of our traders use similar skills to attract customers in their positions, in particular, plates crockery salesman who are released into the air and catch them with great skill before selling it to you, and suffers very little!
No prize is never given without the word "only" to be placed in front of her, all seats sold in the trash is "authentic" and probably "old" beautiful collie vegetables: juicy, non-energy dogs, and if a trader says he (or she) is "practically free" then it is probably because any sane person would want to buy!
Not all of these sales tactics, they deserve success, and some vendors of fruit and vegetables may be their worst enemies, complaining to manage their assets and palm trees to go green, rotting, then you can control and select the products you want at the local supermarket. Well it is said, however, these operators are decreasing gradually, especially with the growth of the movement Market farmers across the country.
I think it is important to recognize that traditional markets still have an important role to play in our cities. They make clothes and products at low prices fee available to those who can not come from supermarkets in the city, or those who simply prefer to shop this way. They also add character, color and life to the local population and give a welcome boost in the number of buyers on the market today, which of course all the benefits of our local merchants.
We are fortunate that our small village of small independent retailers to survive. The fish is fresh from the dock and proudly displays the butcher behind the meat counter.
I think the popularity of agricultural markets shows that there is a growing awareness of the value of local food production, where the origin any item can be tracked. I do not think that we all prefer to mass production and pre-packaged, high in the air miles Foods which are often available in supermarkets.
So - next time it has been proposed in the shops - why not try to visit local your town market day and see what is proposed?
